How to set up your own company website

The least expensive way of creating an online presence is to design and build your own website. If you are new to Web Design as there are a range of powerful software packages available which simplify the process of building and maintaining a website.

Web pages are written using HTML or 'hypertext markup language'. Although initially you may not be familiar with this language, there are a number of websites which offer help and advice on getting started with HTML programming. Try typing 'html tutorial' into a search engine like Google for access to various free lessons and articles.

Programmes like Dreamweaver allow you to make your own basic 'template' design on which your individual web pages will be based. However, by far the easiest method for the novice to build web pages is to use a pre-existing template. In basic terms, the template is a design for a web page which has a set layout while still allowing you to change the content of individual pages.

Templates are available both free and commercially on the web. Try entering 'html templates' into your search engine to find a web template that suits your needs and the business image you wish to promote.
